Lab Work
Lab Work
Your doctor will periodically order blood tests to evaluate your child’s health. Most of the lab work can be collected in our office and sent directly to LabCorp. Some lab tests need to be collected at a LabCorp location. Blood for these tests are either collected from a heel, finger, or vein in the arm, depending on the type of test and the age of the child. If you are referred to LabCorp you can either walk in or set up an appointment.

Time to get your lab results varies depending on the test. Our office will make every effort to contact you as quickly as possible with test results. If you haven't heard from us within one week following a test, call us to confirm that we have received and reviewed the results.

Radiology & EKG
Radiology & EKG
Your doctor may order radiographic testing (such as X-rays, CT Scans or Ultrasounds) or an EKG to evaluate your child’s condition. Simple tests such as X-rays and EKGs are usually performed on the same day during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) at St. Mary’s Hospital outpatient radiology departments. These tests do not require an appointment, but do require a doctor’s order which we will provide.

Other tests may require scheduled appointments and more specific instructions to prepare your child for the test. Our office will contact the hospital’s scheduling system to give them the information they need to schedule the test, then outpatient radiology will then reach out to you to schedule your child's test. They will call you from (804) 627-5660, please answer any calls or messages from that number. If you do not hear from them within 1 week, please contact them at this number. If you or your insurance company prefers to use a different radiology department, we will review that scheduling procedure with you at your visit. If you miss the appointment, it is your responsibility to reschedule the test.
