Sick Care

If you think your child is suffering a true emergency and are not sure what to do, the safest option is always to call 9-1-1 immediately

Sick Visit Appointments

To have your child seen for a same day sick visit, call the office at (804) 358-4904. We schedule sick child visits from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the morning and 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. We do not provide walk in visits. Please remember we do our best to see your child at the time scheduled but due to the unpredictable nature of illnesses in children you may have to wait to be seen.

Not sure what to do?

If you are not sure whether your child’s medical situation can wait to be addressed during office hours, a doctor is always on call for after-hours emergency questions. Emergency questions do NOT include calls for making appointments or getting prescription refills. But if you think the doctor will need to contact your pharmacy, please have the pharmacy phone number ready when you page the doctor. These calls are billed through your insurance.

Instructions for After Hours Concerns

Call our main office number (804) 358-4904 and follow the prompts to leave a message for the doctor on call. Please speak slowly and clearly including your child’s name, date of birth, a brief description of the problem, and the number we can reach you back. Typically your phone call will be returned from our office number, but please make sure you are not blocking calls as we occasionally need to call from a private number.

If your call is not answered in 30 minutes, please call again and leave a second message. Please make sure to speak clearly when leaving a message.
